Tentúgal is a gem. And it all starts with the pastry. The shop, O Afonso, is right on the highway into town. You can stop before you explore the village and have a Pastel de Tentúgal and then on the way back have some savory pastries and a a Pastel after. The way this pastry is produced will wow you, it's price will floor you. It's downright cheap if you understand what the manufacturing process is.
the Casa da Misericórdia de Tentúgal might also be called a gem. It hearkens from a time when "the Misericórdia was a Portuguese charity, founded in Lisbon in 1498. These “houses of mercy” were charged with the task of burying the dead as well as other tasks like marriage, charity, health care and taking in babies whose mothers had died."

And there's more in this village. Read all about it: The Treasures of Tentugal, Portugal.
